Peace Corps Features West Michigan-Designed Poster

February 1, 2022

In online and print versions of their WorldView magazine, the National Peace Corps Association included in a six-decade timeline a poster designed by Patrick Koeller, at that time a student in a Western Michigan University (WMU) graphic design program led by professor Jon Henderson. The iconic red, white, and blue image is the leading image introducing the 1970s (the poster was published in 1972).

The poster, called “Be about Peace,” was featured last year in the Smithsonian magazine; Jon recalled the history on that occasion. In both cases, publication editors were able to receive high-quality images because of the West Michigan Graphic Design Archives and the team’s work to collect, digitize, and catalog important work produced in this region.
