Sakura, meaning cherry blossom in Japanese, is the symbolic flower of spring – a time of renewal. The poster was designed as a symbol of hope and friendship to the Japanese people devastated from the earthquake and subsequent tsunami and radiation contamination. Designed for an exhibition of American and Japanese peace posters at the Art Institute of Chicago: Peace: Images for Survival.
