Nancy Yerkes Acquisitions Demonstrate Versatility

October 22, 2020

The most recent accession to the West Michigan Graphic Design Archives includes 36 projects by Nancy Yerkes. The work includes marketing materials for the furniture industry and area governmental and nonprofit organizations, as well as personal holiday cards and birth announcements, representing skills in  logo design, typography, and illustration. All display Nancy’s solid and often adventurous color sense and overall versatility.

Nancy studied graphic design and illustration at Western Michigan University and Kendall College of Art & Design. She was a warm and welcoming member of the region’s design community, which felt her loss in 2019.

Fortunately, Leslie Black was able to work with Nancy to submit representative work to the Archives, serving the organization’s mission to make excellent design work available for study and inspiration. These additions to the collection assure that her work is preserved as a part of West Michigan’s design legacy.
